It is more difficult to travel with a baby. There is no doubt about that. Sometimes, it is enough to make you reconsider the plans. However, like everything else, all it takes is a little planning and a few new tricks and those skies will start to look pretty friendly. I just got back a few nights ago from my sister’s house at the beach. While Bella and I have traveled a lot this year, this was my first flight alone with her with a layover. I was a bit nervous about this complexity, but I wasn’t going to turn down a week at the beach with my family. Just like most things, the anticipation was worse than the actual travel.
The current liquid/ gel laws enforced by TSA can make passing through security at the airport very frustrating. For an adult traveling alone, usually the 1 quart ziplock bag can be devoted to shampoo, eye drops etc. Aside from medicines, these are personal items that are really nice to have, but are also fairly easily replaced either inside the airport or upon arrival. When flying with a little baby, that precious real estate becomes more valuable for things like infant motrin. If your baby needs medicine, it is also likely to be in liquid form.
When I was packing our bags in preparation for last week’s trip to the beach, I was frustrated that I would have to go out and buy more baby wash when I arrived because I didn’t have any more space to fit baby soap into my quart ziplock bag, but I ran across these disposable washcloths
from Johnson & Johnson. I generally don’t like disposable things as it seems awfully wasteful for everyday use, but these were awesome to stash in our bag for the trip. No concerns about TSA and I didn’t have to worry that it would leak in my bag. It even is a frugal choice as I cut each washcloth into 4 pieces with sissors, and the smaller size worked very well! I only used one and a half washcloths for the week! It took up nearly no space at all. I highly recommend these washcloths to anyone traveling with a baby! It comes in two scents: classic head to toe
and bathtime
.
