Am I the only one who lusts after the fancy popsicle sets sold at Williams Sonoma? Sounds great, but perhaps I’ll have to wait for another June Cleaver life. Sure, it would be great to make triple flavored striped fruit pops for my little munchkin, but let’s keep things a bit easier, shall we? As great as the idea is, spending the time to do it when you are already stretched a little thin just isn’t so realistic. With any free time, I’d rather take a nap.
Here’s a super easy recipe. (Can I really call it a recipe??) Anyway, here’s an idea that has been great for our house. Bella adores yogurt, so we serve it to her nearly every day. She also started teething a couple of months ago and I know that the cold yogurt straight from the fridge feels good on her tender gums. But if you freeze it, it is even better for teething. The fantastic part is that it takes nearly two seconds to make this “recipe”. So easy, you can do this while putting away your groceries once you come home from the store.

Banana Yogurt Pops
Start with some baby yogurt in those wonderful little single serve containers. We love Dan-o-nino and Stoneyfield Yo-baby. Take a little paring knife and cut a slit about 3/4 ” long in the plastic or foil lid. Insert a plastic baby spoon- Not metal! If you happen to have popsicle sticks or tongue depressors, they work well too. Stick the entire thing in the freezer standing upright. After a few hours or overnight, once it is frozen, you can run the plastic container under warm water, peel off the lid and then pull the pop out of the mold by the baby spoon handle! Put a bib on your baby, give the popsicle to her and your baby will be thrilled! It is a bit messy and your munchkin will have yogurt smeared all over her face, but she will love it. She will be able to feed herself, the popsicle feels great on tender gums and you will be able to eat your dinner or have a few minutes of peace. The first time Bella had a popsicle, I served it to her during dinner. It was wonderful to eat my own dinner, entirely without interruption, and have some quiet for once. You can bet that I always have pops in my freezer now.
Once you serve your popsicle, wash and save the little containers as molds for future popsicles. They are a great size. Fill with bananas, cooked apples or other soft fruits and fill to the top with yogurt. Why not add pureed vegetables? I bet sweet potato or butternut squash would be delicious. Cover with plastic wrap, cut a little slit and insert the spoon. Freeze. Serve.

These popsicles are great and easy to make. I used a ripe banana that needed to be eaten soon and froze it in the yogurt cups using a baby spoon. One banana made two popsicles. Great recipe. Thanks Becca.
